Pacific Calm
Project Type: Original Logo
client: fictional (course assignment)
role: graphic designer
tools used: adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Description
This project was part of Graphic Design Masterclass - Learn GREAT Design on Udemy.com. The objective was to create a logo for a high end gym, primarily geared towards women. Their key statement is they do not want to be seen as "just" a spa, rather a holistic wellness/exercise facility.
Process
The first step was to condense the brief provided in the online class, into a few clear paragraphs (see below). The second step was to start the design process. I drew some concepts on paper and selected the strongest concept to vectorize in Adobe Illustrator. The third step involved selected the typography and color scheme. The final step was to export all files in the various lockups as defined by the brief. I also made some signage mockups as a bonus.
Reflection
Designing the Pacific Calm logo was a valuable exercise in creating a brand identity rooted in mood and emotion. The goal was to convey serenity, trust, and wellness through minimalist design choices. I focused on clean lines, soft curves, and a calming color palette to reflect the brand’s peaceful essence. This project reinforced how subtle design decisions—like spacing, font choice, and color tone—can dramatically influence how a brand feels. It also taught me the importance of restraint: sometimes, less truly is more when clarity and emotional connection are the priority.
